The MicroActivist Foundation is a certified non-profit dedicated to connecting diverse youth, including those on the autism spectrum, with the world's oceans, fostering the next generation of ocean warriors. Healthy marine ecosystems are critical for human survival, and today's youth will become tomorrow's advocates for change. We coordinate hands-on activities that engage all kids with the ocean and its creatures, create innovative education courses tailored to diverse learning styles, and raise awareness about issues affecting marine wildlife and habitats in need.

From birth, Connor found solace in water; it was his happy place. At 10 months old, his swim instructor noted his extraordinary comfort underwater. However, life on land proved challenging. Diagnosed with autism at four, Connor faced difficulties integrating with peers.

During a trip to Hawaii, he encountered a wild monk seal, igniting his curiosity about the endangered species. Learning about their struggles with discarded fishing nets inspired Connor, just five years old, to start cleaning beaches.

His single-handed mission attracted other kids who joined him in picking up litter for the sheer joy of helping nature, not for rewards. Connor’s passion for ocean protection is unwavering. In his words, “We must do better. As kids, we enter this world expecting nothing and eager to learn everything.”

To expand his efforts and challenge negative notions about both ocean animals and autism, Connor created the MicroActivist Missions—an initiative rooted in passion-based learning.

The MicroActivist Missions exemplify passion-based learning through realistic conservation simulations that engage youth as valued team members, addressing real-world challenges in global hot zones while revealing the beauty and mystery of ocean creatures.

Now 18, Connor thrives in and on the water, filming and protecting marine life while envisioning new ways to inspire young advocates to safeguard our oceans. He is also developing a zero-emission hybrid sailboat as a sustainable platform for education and filming, showcasing how any young person's passion and intellect can drive positive change.

What started as one little boy’s mission to save endangered monk seals has grown into a movement of kids committed to tolerance and acceptance for all forms of life. Together, they are determined to change the fate of the oceans and reshape the future with fresh, young eyes, illuminated by the possibility of hope!

“All good things start as one small idea, but it’s through a unified effort that the idea gains strength and takes flight. A good partner is better than a triple chocolate ice cream with chocolate syrup on top.”
